Giving Hands

Giving Hands is a digital photo collage project I worked on when I took intermediate photography with UNM instructor Johanne Barfield. The collage represents a non-traditional family portrait of the hands of my mother, brother, and mine placed around a prayer fire. The central focus is on the nurse and boy connecting with a stethoscope placed on the heart. The statue is from Fort Defiance hospital in Arizona, my late father's birthplace. The collage was made to honor the familial bond and support that each member has to protect.
